How to set up and manage third-party cards like American Express and Q Card, and what to do when your merchant facility changes
Third-party payment methods are cards and schemes that sit outside your bank's standard merchant facility. Your bank sets up and manages Visa and Mastercard acceptance for you. To accept other cards including American Express, Q Card, Farmers Card, fuel cards, and gift cards, you need to set up a facility directly with that payment method provider.
How to add a third-party payment method
Contact the provider directly using the details below. They will set up your facility and issue you with the details Eftpos NZ needs to enable the card on your terminal. Once that is done, call us on 0800 EFTPOS (0800 338 767, option 3) to have it added.
Note: Your terminal will not accept a third-party card until the provider has completed your facility setup and the card has been enabled on your device.
Updating your merchant facility
If you change payment network or your bank issues you with a new Merchant ID (MID), you need to tell each of your third-party payment providers. Your third-party cards will stop working until they have your new details.
