Connect your EFTPOS terminal to the internet to start processing transactions. This article covers Wi-Fi, mobile data, broadband, and mobile hotspot connections.

Connect to Wi-Fi

Your terminal can remember multiple Wi-Fi networks so you don’t need to reconnect when switching locations.

To connect to a new Wi-Fi network:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon wifi_ok?

  2. Select your network from the list

  3. Enter your Wi-Fi password and tap CONNECT

Once connected, your terminal will display a Wi-Fi icon in the top-right corner of the screen. It will automatically use this connection to process transactions and receive software update.

For security reasons, your terminal cannot connect to a public Wi-Fi network

Connect Using Mobile Data

All Android terminals come with a pre-installed SIM card. If mobile data is your primary connection method, your terminal will automatically connect when powered on.

When connected to mobile data, a signal strength icon will appear next to the battery indicator. Your terminal will use this connection to process transactions and receive software updates.

To activate your SIM card for backup or primary use, call our Technical Helpdesk on 0800 EFTPOS (option 2). A fixed monthly SIM fee applies for mobile data connectivity

Connect to your router

You can also connect your terminal using a wired Ethernet connection via the Full Feature Base (T650p) or directly into the terminal (T650c).

Follow these guides to set up your base and connect via Ethernet:

Connect to a Mobile Hotspot

You can use your phone's mobile data to create a hotspot network for your terminal.

  1. Turn on your mobile hotspot on your phone

  2. On your terminal, swipe down and tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon

  3. Select the hotspot network from the list

  4. Enter the password and tap CONNECT

We don’t recommend using a hotspot long-term. Terminal updates can exceed 500MB and may result in high mobile data charges.

When connected to a hotspot, your terminal will function the same as with a regular Wi-Fi network.

Aeroplane Mode

Aeroplane mode disables all connections including Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth.

To manage Aeroplane mode:

  • Tap the Aeroplane Mode icon in Quick Settings

  • Or go to Settings > Network & Internet, then scroll down to toggle Aeroplane mode on or off

Don’t enable Aeroplane mode during trading hours as it will disconnect your terminal from the payment network.

  2. Go to Utility > Comms Setup > Comms Settings

  3. Select Wi-Fi, then tap Setup
