Tipping On Your Android Terminal

Tipping offers your customers the option of adding a tip to their purchase. You can keep track of how many tips your team has earned using the Shift Totals app.

To process a transaction with a tip added:

  1. Enter the transaction amount
  2. Tap Purchase
  3. If Operators have been set up in the Shift Totals app then terminal will prompt to select an Operator
  4. The customer is asked to select a tip amount. The customer can select a predefined amount, enter a custom amount or opt not to add a tip
  5. The total transaction amount is shown on the screen. Your customer presents their card or device and enters their PIN (if required)
  6. The graphic on screen shows customers how to present their card:
    T650p – Customer taps their contactless device or card (Apple Pay, Google Pay, contactless cards) on the contactless symbol on the printer roll cover, inserts their chip card into the slot at the bottom of the terminal, or swipes the magstripe on their card through the magstripe reader on the side of the terminal.
    Carbon Mobile 5 – Customer taps their contactless device or card (Apple Pay, Google Pay, contactless cards) near the centre of the screen, inserts their chip card into the slot at the top of the terminal chip end first with the chip facing up, or swipes the magstripe on their card through the magstripe reader at the bottom of the terminal with the stripe facing down.
  7. Your terminal processes the transaction and then displays Approved or Declined
  8. If a card is inserted, the terminal prompts to remove the card from the chip card slot
  9. Merchant receipt print
  10.  Customer selects preferred receipt option
